Off-Road Utility Vehicle Concept

Project Overview

2015

This was a university project completed in my fourth year as part of a design and simulation module. As part of the project a conceptual design for the shape of an off-road vehicle had to be created. A simplified model was created in Solidworks using the Surfaces add-in. With the emphasis being placed on functionality and aesthetics.

The model was created by using three orthographic views of a source design, in this case a Range Rover Sport. From these 3 views, sketches could be created and projected into 3D space. These could then be connected with additional sketches creating sketch boundaries for surfaces to fill. The zebra stripes and curvature analysis tools were also used to help blend the surfaces together, and remove any sharp edges.
